MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - Host Millersville University scored two first-half goals and finished out the second half to record the shutout in a 2-0 PSAC field hockey victory over visiting West Chester Tuesday afternoon at Biemesderfer Stadium.
West Chester (8-4, 3-2 PSAC) fell into fourth place in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference standings while Millersville (11-1, 5-1) kept its stranglehold on second place.
Katelyn Zapp scored her fifth goal of the season in the 24th minute to give Millersville a 1-0 lead. Her goal came off an assist from Rachel Dickinson. Alicia Youtz scored her third goal of the season, and second against West Chester, six minutes later to double the Marauders' lead.
West Chester goalkeeper Audree Bonavita (5-3) made one save in 70 minutes of action. Lauren Sotzin made five saves for Millersville to record the shutout.
The Golden Rams travel to Bloomsburg, who is currently in third place, on Saturday for another crucial conference showdown.
