WEST CHESTER, Pa. - West Chester University's women's tennis squad recorded its second straight 9-0 shutout win in as many days with its victory Thursday over visiting University of the Sciences.
West Chester (3-4) swept the doubles competition and then took all six singles in straight sets to record the win and move one match closer to the .500 mark on the year.
Maddy Shaak and Nicole Fahringer teamed up once again at first doubles for an 8-5 win while each picked up a win at first and second singles. Shaak was a 6-1, 7-5 winner in the first slot, and Fahringer was a 6-4, 6-1 winner in the second hole. Jami Dumler did not drop a game in a 6-0, 6-0 win at third singles, and Abriana Nolan was a 6-0, 6-1 winner at fourth singles.
Cassidy Branigan's 6-1, 6-0 win at fifth singles gave West Chester the fifth and deciding point in the match. Nicole Nardi was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at sixth singles.
Nolan and Step Cifarelli were 8-0 winners at second doubles while Haley Wissinger and Amalia Hartman teamed up at third doubles for an 8-3 win.
