WEST CHESTER, Pa. - West Chester University women's tennis squad dropped a 5-2 decision to visiting Philadelphia University on South Campus Thursday afternoon. First and fourth singles were suspended due to darkness.
West Chester (1-1) picked up wins at first doubles and fifth singles for its two wins.
Maddy Shaak and Nicole Fahringer were 8-6 winners at first doubles. However, PhilaU captured second and third doubles to take a 2-1 lead heading into the singles portion of the match.
Julie McNabb picked up West Chester's only other victory on the day. She was a 6-1, 6-2 winner at ffith singles.
"We ran into a very strong PhilaU squad today," WCU head coach Tina Tharp said. "(Shaak and Fahringer) had an impressive win at first doubles, and McNabb picked up a win in her first start in singles play."
