Big Second Half Lifts Women's Rugby To Win Over Maryland

WEST CHESTER, Pa. - West Chester University scored 48 points in the second half to pull away from visiting Maryland in a non-league women's rugby contest on South Campus Sunday. The Golden Rams won, 65-5.

West Chester (5-2) finally got things going in the second half to kill momentum starting to mount for Maryland (3-3) at the end of the first half. Nicole Benedetti posted three trys, two after halftime, and Sophia Schwab converted four times to spark the rally.

Jackie Sacco scored twice in the first half to help stake the Golden Rams to a 17-0 lead. Katie Walston converted one of those trys, before leaving with an injury. The game was the final contest of the fall portion of West Chester's schedule. The Rams will resume their season in March.
