MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – Sophomores
Dallas Ely, Brittany Sicinski and
Anna Kuntz each recorded their first career double-doubles, helping visiting West Chester to a 91-83 victory over host Millersville in a PSAC East women's basketball contest inside Pucillo Gym Wednesday evening.
West Chester (5-2, 3-0 PSAC East) picked up its fourth straight win and remains unbeaten in league play with the victory. Millersville (3-3, 1-1) dropped its first conference tilt of the young season.
Ely's career-best 29 points was coupled with another personal high of 10 rebounds and six assists. The Montrose, Pa., native was one of three second-year players to score in double figures and record a double-double. Sicinski scored 13 points and grabbed 10 boards while Kuntz had 14 points and a team-best 11 rebounds. Jr.,
Kendall Benovy added 14 points.
The Golden Rams outrebounded the Marauders by a 61-52 margin and never trailed the entire game. West Chester led by as many as 18 points midway through the first half.
WCU opened the game on a 21-7 spurt over the first four minutes of play and never looked back. Kuntz sparked the run with six of the 16 points. Ely balanced her scoring over the 40 minutes with 13 before halftime and 14 more after the break.
West Chester travels to Kutztown Saturday afternoon for another PSAC contest against the Golden Bears. Tip time is set for 1 p.m.
