HICKORY, N.C. – Tori Dugan scored four goals and finished with six points as second-ranked West Chester University topped host Lenior-Rhyne, 20-8, Tuesday afternoon.
West Chester (3-0) increased its winning streak to open the year to three games with the win while Lenior-Rhyne (0-3) is still in search of its first victory of the season.
The Golden Rams scored 10 of the first 11 goals in the contest and held a 10-1 advantage with 10 minutes left in the first half. Jamie Dolan scored the first and the last of those tallies in that run while Nicole Pyle scored three times. Pyle finished with four goals, matching Dugan’s total offensively.
Lauren Glassey, Hannah Cowan, Erin Eckert and Dolan each scored twice as well.
Jess Henderson (3-0) made five saves in 45 minutes of action. Kelsey Sward came on and made six saves in the final 15 minutes.
West Chester outshot Lenior-Rhyne 41-25 and forced the Bears into 25 turnovers defensively.
West Chester opens its PSAC schedule at home on March 27 against defending PSAC champion Bloomsburg at 4 p.m. at Vonnie Gros Field.
