Top-Ranked LIU-Post Hands 17-8 Setback To No. 5 West Chester

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Host LIU-Post scored six of the game’s first eight goals and never looked back in a 17-8 victory over visiting West Chester University on Long Island Tuesday afternoon.
 
Fifth-ranked West Chester (10-2) has lost two of its last three games in dropping the rematch of last year’s NCAA Division II national championship game. No. 1-ranked LIU-Post remains unbeaten at 12-0 with the win.
 
Hannah Cowen scored three goals for the Golden Rams while Lauren Glassey registered two goals and one assist in the loss. Sarah Dennison also scored twice. Tori Dugan scored a goal and assisted on another.
 
Ashley Owen scored a game-high five goals for LIU-Post, and Abbie Ross and Katie Rotan each added four. Jackie Sileo and Samantha Losco each scored twice. Sileo added nine assists in the match, finishing with 11 points, setting the school record for points in a career with 347.
 
Jess Henderson (9-2) made nine saves in the cage for the Golden Rams. Dominique Mosca made 13 saves for the Pioneers.
 
West Chester travels out west this weekend for two very important PSAC tilts at Lock Haven on Friday and at Indiana (Pa.) Saturday. Both Lock Haven and IUP are undefeated in league play, along with West Chester.
