BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Erin Eckert registered a hat trick, and Dina Cifelli posted six points, but it was not enough for sixth-ranked West Chester University to overcome host Bloomsburg on the road in a PSAC women's lacrosse match Saturday afternoon.
West Chester (3-1, 0-1 PSAC East) suffered its first loss of the season while Bloomsburg (3-2, 1-0) took advantage of a three-goal spurt late in the second half to pick up the win.

Bloomsburg's Julie Falk scored twice in the last seven minutes, and teammate Ashley Bossert added a tally during a three-goal run that gave the Huskies a 15-13 lead. Cifelli then picked up her lone goal of the afternoon with 2:20 left, but the apparent game-tying goal a little later was disallowed when the Golden Rams' shooter was carded for a dangerous follow-through.

West Chester held a 6-1 advantage early in the first half when Bloomsburg then scored nine of the game's next 11 tallies to take a 10-8 lead 10 minutes into the second half. The Golden Rams answered with a four-goal run to move in front, 12-10. However, the Huskies tallied a pair of goals back-to-back to tie the game at 12-apiece with with 9:55 left.

Hannah Cowan gave West Chester its final lead at the 8:19 mark.

Cowan, Jordan Heidelbaugh, Kelsy Gumbert and Sarah Dennison each posted a pair of goals for the Golden Rams. Olivia Martin, Gina Eberwein and Cifelli had the other tallies.

Jess Henderson (3-1) made nine saves in the cage for West Chester while her counterpart, Abbey Burnett, made six stops. Brigid Kyne led all scorers with six goals for Bloomsburg.

West Chester travels to Kutztown on Tuesday, before heading home next Friday and Saturday when they host PSAC rivals Slippery Rock and Mercyhurst at Vonnie Gros Field. Game times are 3 p.m. each day.
