KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Dina Cifelli posted 10 points as 10th-ranked West Chester University defeated host Kutztown, 22-3, in a PSAC women's lacrosse match Tuesday afternoon.
West Chester (4-1, 2-1 PSAC East) was coming off its first loss of the season while Kutztown falls to 2-4 on the year and 0-2 in conference play.
Cifelli scored two goals and dished out eight assists to lead the Golden Rams attack. Jordan Heidelbaugh, Erin Sheno and Hannah Cowan each added three goals Tuesday. Cowan registered five points, adding a pair of assists to her hat trick. Kelsy Gumbert and Erin Eckert each scored twice as well.
West Chester scored the first seven goals of the contest to take a 7-0 lead 13 minutes into the game. After Kutztown scored two of the next three tallies to make it 8-2, the Golden Rams rattled off 13 straight markers as the visitors controlled the pace of the game the rest of the way.
West Chester converted all four of its free position shots in the game and held a 15-11 advantage in draw controls.
Jess Henderson (3-1) made five saves in 50 minutes of action in the cage to pick up her third win of the season. Courtney O'Connell got her first college action in relief of Henderson, finishing up the final 10 minutes and making one save while allowing one goal.
West Chester returns home this weekend for back-to-back contests at Vonnie Gros Field. The Golden Rams will host Slippery Rock at 3 p.m. on Friday, before welcoming Mercyhurst to its facility on Saturday at 3 p.m.
