Box Score

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Three different Golden Rams registered seven points as 13th-ranked West Chester University defeated visiting Millersville, 21-8, in a PSAC women's lacrosse contest at Vonnie Gros Field Tuesday afternoon.

West Chester (6-2, 3-2 PSAC) got back in the win column following a heartbreaking loss to Mercyhurst last Saturday while Millersville (4-5, 1-4) dropped its third straight.

Hannah Cowan scored six goals and added one assist, Dina Cifelli scored two goals and dished out five assists and Ashley Pyle scored once while delivering six assists. Melinda Speers added a hat trick as well.

Senior defender Juliane Williams got things started just over two minutes into the contest when she scored her first career goal off a rebound of her own shot. Williams scooped up a ground ball, raced down the middle of the field and took a shot that Millersville goalkeeper Kaitlin Crouthamel originally saved. However, the ball rolled off to the left of the cage where Williams quickly picked up the ball again and fired it past Crouthamel.

The Golden Rams opened the second half with four straight goals to break out in front, 11-4. Millersville would score three of the next four to crawl back into the game at 12-7. However, West Chester scored the final six goals of the game and nine of the last 10 overall to put the contest away late. Pyle scored once and assisted on two others during that spurt.

Jess Henderson (6-2) made nine saves in the win while her counterpart, Crouthamel stopped 16 shots.

West Chester will host arch-rival Lock Haven Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. in the fourth and final game of its current four-game homestand.
