West Chester Down East Stroudsburg 8-3 in Home Finale

WEST CHESTER, Pa. - Dina Cifelli scored the first two goals then assisted on three in the second half to lead West Chester to an 8-3 PSAC women's lacrosse victory over East Stroudsburg on Senior Day at Vonnie Gros Field Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Rams (11-4, 8-4 PSAC) will open the PSAC playoffs as the fifth seed on Tuesday with a quarterfinal match at fourth seeded Seton Hill (13-4, 8-4 PSAC). Nicole Miller scored twice for the Warriors, who finish the season with an 8-9 overall record and 3-9 in the PSAC.

Before the game West Chester honored it's six seniors, Gina Eberwein, Jordan Heidelbaugh, Jess Henderson, Melinda Speers, Juliane Williams and Liz Wilson who were playing their last home game at Vonnie Gros.

Cifelli opened the scoring five minutes into the first half with an unassisted tally; Miller then tied the score at 1-1 for East Stroudsburg, The game stayed that way until Heidelbaugh set up Cifelli for the freshman's 20th of the season to make it a 2-1 game with 10 minutes to play in the half. A minute later it was Caroline Kuchinsky from Heidelbaugh to stretch the lead to two and Eberwein made it a 4-1 game when she put the ball into the back of the net. Miller scored again for the Warriors to cut the deficit to 4-2 heading into the half.

Erin Eckert notched her 30th of the season from Cifelli to give the Golden Rams their three goal edge again, but the Warriors closed the gap to two with a goal at 16:33, to make it a 5-3 contest.

West Chester closed the game on a 3-0 run that was started by Eberwein, who netted her second of the game, Erin Gallagher increased the lead to four from and Heidelbaugh ended the scoring with her third point of the game with Cifelli picking up assists on the final two goals to finish the season with 57 helpers.

Jess Henderson making her final start at home was stout in goal for West Chester making 11 saves to pick up her 11th win of the season. Jessica Maxwell also made 11 stops in goal East Stroudsburg.

The Golden Rams seeded fifth travel to take on the fourth seed Seton Hill on Tuesday in a PSAC Tournament quarterfinal match with the Griffins. Seton Hill captured the fourth spot by virtue of a 15-10 home victory over West Chester on April 12.
