Box Score ERIE, Pa. – Hannah Cowan and Erin Eckert each posted four goals, and Ashley Pyle added a hat trick, as 14th-ranked West Chester University outdistanced host Gannon, 16-4, in a PSAC women's lacrosse contest Wednesday afternoon.
West Chester (7-3, 4-3 PSAC) scored eight of the game's first nine goals to race out in front and never look back against Gannon (6-6, 3-4).
A five-goal outburst over a 10-minute span of the first half turned a 3-1 contest into an 8-1 game with 6:32 left before halftime. Gannon ended the rally with just over four minutes remaining before the break. However, West Chester closed out the first 20 minutes with three more unanswered goals and led 11-2.
Jess Henderson (7-3) allowed just two goals in the second half and made 11 saves in the contest.
West Chester outshot Gannon, 30-19, and forced 17 turnovers.
Pyle and Cowan were each credited with a pair of assists. Pyle finished with five points overall while Cowan had six. Dina Cifelli scored once and assisted on two others. Jordan Heidelbaugh scored twice and assisted on one.
West Chester is back in action on Saturday when the Golden Rams travel back out west to take on Seton Hill at 3 p.m. in Greensburg, Pa.
