Cory Blake (West Chester, Pa./Rustin) recorded his second double-double, scoring a season-high 25 points to lift the West Chester Golden Rams over Pitt-Johnstown, 81-75, inside Hollinger Field House Saturday night.
The Golden Rams (6-7, 4-4 PSAC) eventually held onto a five-point lead that they had built by halftime, but it became a see-saw battle with the visiting Mountain Lions, exchanging the lead back and forth down the stretch, with seven lead changes overall. Pitt-Johnstown (6-6, 3-5) finished with four players in double figures.
Blake shot 80 percent from the field (8-for-10) and 90 percent from the free throw line (9 of 10) to go with three assists and three steals.
Ben Mingledough (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) added a spark to the lineup, scoring 14 points. He also grabbed three rebounds, dished out two assists and recored a pair of steals with one leading to a breakaway dunk to give West Chester its largest lead (14 points) in the second half.
Avery Brown (Mt. Laurel, N.J./Lenape) provided a dunk as well after a steal in the first half to tie the game at 22 apiece, finishing with eight points for the game. Guard
Raheem Hall (Ardmore, Pa./Lower Merion) contributed 11 points and four assists on the night. He also had an alley-oop dunk, compliments Blake.
Mike Wilson (Philadelphia, Pa./Martian Luther King) shot 2 of 4, scoring 10 points, including a perfect 4-for-4 from the line. Forward
, Thomas White (Chester, Pa./Penn Wood) matched a game-high 10 rebounds and scored seven points off the bench in the winning effort.
West Chester shot over 50 percent for the game and 44 percent from 3-point range, compared to the Mountain Lions' 39 and 30 percent, respectively. The Golden Rams also dominated the inside the paint, outscoring the Mountain Lions, 34-20.
Mountain Lions' Matt Palo led the team with 20 points to go with five rebounds, four assists and a steal. Rich Audu added 13 points, while A.J. Leahy put 12 on the board. Levi Masua rounded out the double-figures, scoring 10 points in the conference loss.
The Golden Rams will get back on the court tomorrow as they welcome in nationally-ranked Indiana (Pa.) to Hollinger Field House tomorrow at 3 p.m.
