West Chester Falls To Slippery Rock, 70-63

Box Score West Chester, Pa. – Sr., G Brittany Sicinski (Downingtown, Pa. / Downingtown West) scored a season-high 21 points, but it was not enough as West Chester dropped their second consecutive game to Slippery Rock University 70-63 inside Hollinger Field House Friday evening.

The Golden Rams (4-4, 2-3 PSAC) were limited to only three bench points in the loss. Slippery Rock (6-3, 3-1 PSAC) shot 10 for 21 from three-point range to keep WCU out of reach in the second half.

After being down by three to begin the game, the Golden Rams went on a 10-0 run to go up seven. SRU battled back to take the lead and go up by four after converting on three-straight shots from beyond the arc (16-12) as the Rock went up by two 20-19 to end the first quarter.  Slippery Rock would push the lead to three to go up 29-26 at the half.

Sr, F Kendall Benovy (Hershey, Pa. / Hershey) scored 14 pints, 11 in the first half, to go with 12 rebounds for her first double-double at East Stroudsburg in February of 2014 (20 and 10).  Forward Anna Kuntz (Camp Hill, Pa. / Trinity) also added 14 points and seven rebounds in the seven point loss.

Back-to-Back baskets by Kuntz put WCU back up by one, but then a three point field-goal helped Rock double their lead to two, which both teams ended up tied 32-32 after a jumper by Sicinski in the third quarter.

Rocks' Audrey Stapleton went 5-for-8 from the field and 3-for-4 from 3-point range for a team-high 16 points. Megan Hardiman added 13 points (4-for-5) and seven rebounds in the victory.

West Chester will look to rebound as they get back on the court tomorrow against PSAC Crossover rival Edinboro tomorrow at 2 p.m.
