West Chester Hangs On To Defeat Shippensburg, 69-64

Box Score

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – West Chester's Brittany Sicinski (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) shot 8-for-13 for a team-high 16 points to lift the Golden Rams over PSAC rival Shippensburg, 68-64, as a part of Play4Kay Day Saturday inside Hollinger Field House.

West Chester (18-4, 14-4 PSAC), despite allowing four players for the Raiders to score in double-figures, was able to turn Shippensburg (14-9, 10-7) miscues into easy buckets at the other end down the stretch and hold on for the conference win. The Rams went into the half up by two(35-33), after shooting over 50-percent from the field.  Shippensburg could not gain a lead, committing 20 turnovers and shooting a little over 50-percent from the free-throw line.

Jr, G Dallas Ely (Montrose, Pa./Montrose) scored 15 points, to go with four rebounds, three assists and three steals in the conference win. She entered the game averaging 28 points against Shippensburg in her last four outings versus the Raiders. The visitor's kept her under that total. However, Ely still averages 17.3 points per game (104 points in six games) opposite Shippensburg during her college career.

Teammate,  Anna Kuntz (Camp Hill, Pa./Trinity) battled down in the low post for 15 points as well while also grabbing a team-high eight rebounds in the winning effort.

West Chester began the game with six-straight points and would never surrender the lead for the entire game. Shippensburg cut it down to as little as two in the final minute, but could not get over the hump.  The Rams outscored the Red Raiders in the paint and off of turnovers to add to the pressure.

Red Raiders' all-league forward, Stephanie Knauer, provided a team-high 16 points, shooting 6-for-9, with 11 rebounds for the only double-double of the game. Logan Snyder shot 74-percent from the field, to follow with 14 points in the losing effort. Lauren Gold and Morgan Griffith both contributed 10 points each in the loss.

The Golden Rams will get back inside Hollinger on Wednesday when PSAC East leader Bloomsburg comes calling for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off between the first- and second-place programs in the division.
