Box Score ERIE, Pa. - Sixteenth-ranked West Chester jumped out to an early 2-1 lead, but eventually fell to No. 7 Mercyhurst by a score of, 12-4, from Tullio Field in a PSAC women's lacrosse Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Rams (4-3, 2-2 PSAC) saw their modest two-game winning streak snapped after the Lakers rattled off six straight unanswered goals to end the first half up, 7-2. Mercyhurst (5-1, 3-0) added some insurance with five goals in the second half to create some separation and grab the victory.
Four Golden Rams provided goals in the loss.
Ashley Pyle (Springfield, Pa./Garnet Valley) led the team with a goal and an assist for two points.
Erin Eckert (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan),
Sarah Dennison (Fallston, Md./John Carroll) and
Caroline Kuchinsky (West Chester, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) contributed with a goal each in the loss.
Lakers' Jenna Schlagenhauf and Mackenzie Jordan both dished out hat tricks with three goals each in the game and a combined five goals in the first half alone. Taylor Ventre added two goals to give the No. 7 team in the country a comfortable lead to close out the win.
The Golden Rams will try to rebound when they travel to Millersville for a matchup with their PSAC rival on Tuesday, March 31 at 4 p.m.?
