West Chester Survives Horrific Shooting Effort To Outlast Lock Haven, 59-55, In Double OT

Box Score

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Jasmen Clark (Temple, Pa./Oley Valley) went 3-for-3 from the foul line down the stretch in the second overtime period to lead visiting West Chester to a 59-55 victory over host Lock Haven Saturday afternoon inside Thomas Fieldhouse.

West Chester (13-5, 10-4 PSAC) extends its winning streak to five straight with the win over Lock Haven (7-12, 4-11). It marked the 12th straight win for the Golden Rams over the Lady Eagles and eighth straight inside Thomas Fieldhouse. But, it was not easy.

With leading scorers Dallas Ely (Montrose, Pa./Montrose) and Brittany Sicinski (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) on the bench, after each fouled out, West Chester turned to fellow senior Jasmen Clark to put away the game in the second OT. Clark finished with just five points, but the final three were most important.

"(Clark) stepped up big time in the second overtime," WCU head coach Kiera Wooden told Mike Samsel of WCHE after the game. "But, for these girls to find a way to win with Ely and (Sicinski) out of the game, says a lot about the character of this team."

The Golden Rams shot a measly 23.7 percent from the field, but Lock Haven didn't do much better at 29.9 percent. It was the lowest percentage of the season thus far, lower than the team's 23.9 effort against Lincoln in the first game of the year.

Ely led West Chester with 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to register her second double-double of the year. Sicinski added 13 points, seven rebounds and four blocked shots. Anna Kuntz led WCU with 13 rebounds, 9 offensive boards, and three blocked shots.

West Chester returns home to Hollinger Field House Wednesday evening for a 5:30 p.m. contest against PSAC East rival Kutztown. That game can be heard online at www.wche1520.com and seen live via video web stream by the Sports Fan Base Network (SFBN).
