West Chester Takes First Place In PSAC East With 14-Point Win Against Shippensburg

West Chester, Pa. – Sr., forward Kendall Benovy (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) scored 14 of her season-high 21 points to help West Chester hang on for a 71-57 victory over Shippensburg inside Hollinger Field House Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Rams (15-5, 12-4 PSAC) are now on top of the PSAC Eastern Division standings while Shippensburg (15-4, 12-4 PSAC) sits one-half game back of West Chester following today's outcome. The two have split the season series with each winning on its own home court.

Shippensburg came back down 18-9 in the first period to lead by five (27-22), but allowed the Golden Rams to end the first half on an 11-0 run.

Benovy recorded her third double-double of the season, adding a career-high 15 rebounds in the game. Brittany Sicinski (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) upped her total of 20 last time out against Shippensburg by two for a team-high 22 points. Sicinski moved into fourth place on the school's all-time scoring chart with 1,472 career points. She also finished with six assists and five rebounds Saturday. Forward Anna Kuntz (Camp Hill, Pa./Trinity) matched her scoring output from last December against Shippensburg with 11 points, to go with five rebounds and two steals.

The Raiders' Morgan Griffith registered a double-double in the loss for 21 points and 13 rebounds. Lauren Gold added 15 points, shooting 4-for-6 from 3-point range.

West Chester will now head on the road as a part of a two game road trip for a match up with Bloomsburg this Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

NOTES: Dallas Ely still stands third all-time on the school's scoring chart with 1,484 career points. Teammate Brittany Sicinski is right behind her with 1,472. Cecilia Rodden (1983-87) is second all-time with 1,487 career points while Kiesha Mack (2000-01, 2002-05) is the school's all-time scoring leader with 1,556 career points.
