No. 22 West Chester Falls To East Stroudsburg, 87-60

West Chester, Pa. – Fr., guard Matt Penecale (Jenkintown, Pa. / Abington) poured on a career-high 16 points, but was not enough as No. 22 West Chester fell to East Stroudsburg 87-60 inside Hollinger Field House Saturday afternoon. 

The Golden Rams (12-2, 10-2 PSAC) fall to second place in the conference behind Kutztown by percentage points. WCU started off the game going 0-for-19 from the field and found themselves in a hole early by double digits. East Stroudsburg (11-3, 7-3 PSAC) remains in third place in the PSAC and one game back of West Chester. The Warriors finished with five players reaching double-figures in scoring to create havoc for WCUs defense on where the ball would go next.

Senior forward Matt Wiseley (Emmaus, Pa. / Emmaus) recorded his third consecutive and sixth double-double for the season, scoring 15 points and grabbing a game-high 11 rebounds in the team's first loss to a PSAC East rival thus far. Guard Malik Jackson (Lansdowne, Pa. / Penn Wood) added 12 points to round out the double-digit scoring for the purple and gold.

Warriors' Jamal Nwaniemeka scored a team-high 14 points to lead the rout over West Chester. Guards Will Brown and Quindell Brice each registered 11 points and a combined 10 rebounds. Brown added four assists and two steals to his line. The combination of Wes Cherry and Rasheed Moore went for 10 points each and grabbed 15 rebounds combined to lift ESU to a huge win to help themselves gain ground on the Golden Rams.

WCU had their hands full with the full-court press of the Warriors, causing the Golden Rams to turn over the ball 20 times for 17 steals and 10 fast-break points in the process. They would go into the break trailing by their biggest deficit of the season at 21 points to end the first half.

 
 West Chester will look to rebound when they travel for match up with Cheyney on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
