WEST CHESTER, Pa. - It was a clean sweep for West Chester University's women's tennis squad as it shut out visiting Salem International, 9-0, in a non-league match Monday afternoon on South Campus.
West Chester (7-3) swept all six singles matches by straight-set scores of 6-0, 6-0. The Golden Rams opened the match with a pair of 8-0 wins at first and second doubles and then an 8-1 win at third doubles.
Reigning PSAC East player of the week,
Claire Uhle (Blue Bell, Pa./Wissahickon) won her first singles match and teamed with
Maddy Shaak (Myerstown, Pa./Eastern Lebanon County) to pick up the win at first doubles. Shaak was also a winner at second singles.
Rylee Power (Newtown Square, Pa./Marple Newtown) teamed with
Alyssa Rees (Morgantown, W.Va./University) at second doubles for a win while also winning third singles. Rees was a winner at fifth singles.
Abriana Nolan (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdale) won her fourth singles match and teamed with
Amalie Hartman (Cleona, Pa./Annville-Cleona) at third doubles for a win.
Steph Cifarelli (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at sixth singles.
West Chester travels to Goldey-Beacom College Tuesday afternoon for another non-league match.
