PSAC Women's Basketball Championships HomepageCALIFORNIA, Pa. – West Chester University's women's basketball team travels to California (Pa.) to take on Indiana (Pa.) in the semifinals of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tournament Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
The other semifinal features host Cal taking on Shippensburg at 3:30 p.m. The two semifinal winners will meet on Sunday at Hamer Hall for the PSAC Championship Game at 3 p.m. Fans can listen live to all the action as Sean Lerman has the call from Hamer Hall on WCHE 1520 AM, or online at www.wche1520.com. The women's semifinal against IUP at Cal will be followed by the men's semifinal against IUP at home inside Hollinger Field House at 3:30 p.m.
The Golden Rams (21-6) are coming off a five-point win over East Stroudsburg in the quarterfinals with PSAC East first teamers
Dallas Ely (Montrose, Pa./Montrose) and
Brittany Sicinski (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) combining for 40 points. Ely and Sicinski enter the weekend as the top two all-time leading scorers in school history and have combined for 3,174 points between them. IUP (20-7) also is coming off a five-point victory over Gannon as four players finished in double-digits in the Crimson Hawks' victory.
Saturday's first semifinal showdown is a rematch from November where the Golden Rams shocked the Crimson Hawks, 92-79, as Ely scored a team-high 29 points while Sicinski added 20.
Anna Kuntz (Camp Hill, Pa./Trinity) also had a great game with a double-double (14 points and 11 rebounds) on the road. It is also a rematch of last season's semifinal played at Bloomsburg University and won by the Golden Rams as well.
Leslie Stapleton poured a team-high 26 points against West Chester in the game, while Zhane Brooks added 19. The game features three of the top-15 scorers in the conference with WCU's Sicinski (6th) and Crimson Hawks' Stapleton (9th) and Brooks (13th).
