GREENSBURG, Pa. - West Chester's No. 8 Women's lacrosse team held on for a two-point victory over the Seton Hill Griffins 12-10 inside Dick's Sporting Goods Field Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Rams (14-1, 9-1 PSAC) upped their current winning-streak to nine after
taking an 8-5 lead heading into halftime. Then the squads jumped out to a six-goal advantage with 12:17 left to go in the second half. Seton Hill (6-9, 5-5 PSAC) scored the first two goals of the game and then found itself having to score four unanswered goals, but by that point it was too late as the clock ran out two goals down.
Junior
Ashley Pyle (Springfield, Pa. / Garnet Valley) scored five goals for her fourth five-goal game of the season.
Hannah Cowen (Wilmington, Del. / Ursuline Academy) added all of her three goals in the first half, while
Dina Cifelli (Robbinsville, N.J. / Notre Dame) and freshman
Sami Barnett (Glenolden, Pa. / Interboro) each shot in two in the victory. In addition, Cifelli had three assists as well.
Griffins' Alessandra Nicholas led the team with four goals, three within the second surge for a tie. Tristen Hanke added two goals in the loss.
Next up, West Chester travels to East Stroudsburg on April 20th for 4 p.m. match start.
