West Chester Tops PASSHE Schools With 246 Named To PSAC Honor Roll

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - West Chester University put a school-record 246 student-athletes on the 2016 PSAC Academic Honor Roll it was announced by the conference on Wednesday. It is the third highest total in the conference overall and highest among PASSHE schools.

The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference honored 2,818 scholar-athletes from the league's 18 institutions during the 2015-16 academic year, marking 40 percent of the student-athlete population. The 2,818 scholar-athlete total breaks the previous record of 2,691 set a year ago, while 40 percent is also a new standard for the conference. The 2,818 total represents 40 percent of the total 7,116 student-athletes participating in the conference. The league has now registered at least a 30 percent rate for eight straight years.
 
West Chester charted the most female student-athletes in the conference with 168 women named to the academic honor roll. West Chester had 50 percent of its student-athlete population make the honor roll list.

Seton Hill was the only other PSAC institution that reached the 50% plateau. The Griffins landed 52 percent of its student-athletes on the honor roll. Mercyhurst led the way with 282 while Seton Hill was second at 256.
