LEWISBURG, Pa. –
Colin Vannicolo (Newtown Square, Pa./Marple Newtown) won the heptathlon while the Golden Rams' 4x400m relay picked up a first-place finish to lead West Chester University's contingent at the 19th Annual Bucknell Bison Open & Multi's inside Gerhard Fieldhouse Saturday.
Vannicolo amassed 4,822 points, hitting an NCAA provisional in the process, to take first place in the heptathlon. Meanwhile, the 4x400m relay team, consisting of
Ghassan Dix (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby), Shawn Young (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West), Colin McClusick (New Hope, Pa./New Hope-Solebury) and
Jim McDaid (Atlantic City, N.J./Mainline Regional), posted a winning time of 3 minutes, 25.54 seconds for West Chester's only other first-place showing.
DeShaun Pickett (Philadelphia, Pa.) was runner-up in the 60m dash in a time of 7.03 seconds.
Justus Norman (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley) was also runner-up in the long jump with a leap of 22 feet, 1 inch. He placed fifth in the triple jump (47-1 ½).
McDaid, who ran the anchor leg of that 4x400m relay, placed seventh in the 800m in a time of 1:59.75.
Joseph Adighibe (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) and
D'Andrew Gursay (Levittown, Pa./Conwell-Egan) supported Norman in the long jump with Top 10 finishes of their own. Adighibe placed fourth (21-4) while Gursay was seventh (44-6 ¾).
Bryce Sadler (Marietta, Pa./Donegal) placed fourth in the shot put, putting it 47-4 ¼.
West Chester travels back to Ursinus College next weekend for the Frank Colden Invitational.
