HARRISONBURG, Va.-The West Chester University women's rugby squad (3-4) continued their weekend road trip as they traveled to James Madison for the second match of the weekend on Sunday morning. West Chester went on to win by a score of 47-10 giving them their second win of the weekend.
How it Happened:
- Haley Spangler(Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) opened the scoring early when she scored just two minutes in and after a converted try from Lili Riley(Doylestown, Pa./Montgomery) West Chester led 7-0.
- Casey Evans(Harleysville, Pa./North Penn) scored her first career try just five minutes later to move the Golden Ram lead to 12-0.
- Riley broke through in the 26th minute for her first of four tries on the day and following a successful conversion West Chester held a commanding 19-0 lead.
- Juah Toe(York, Pa./Central York) added another try in the 37th minute and following another successful Riley conversion the lead was 26-0 heading to the half.
- Riley did not wait long to score again as she scored another try just one minute into the half and following a successful conversion the lead was 33-0.
- James Madison answered back in the 51st minute to trim the lead to 33-5 but Riley would not allow this to last as she quickly added another two tries and conversions to give West Chester the 47-5 lead.
- James Madison tacked on one more try in the 73rd minute when Megan Rich broke through but this would not be nearly enough as West Chester went on to win by a final score of 47-10.
