WEST CHESTER, Pa. - West Chester University's men's soccer team heads down to Charleston, West Virginia for the third round of the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Tournament on Thursday at 4 p.m.

Since becoming Division II, this is the farthest that the Golden Rams have advanced as they are a part of the final 16 teams remaining. The last NCAA Tournament victory happened in 1967 against East Stroudsburg, but that was when the program was still Division I.

The Golden Rams are coming off a thrilling second round victory over the weekend against East Stroudsburg. Sr., M Brett Glasco (West Chester, Pa./Rustin) tallied the game winner in the 106th minute to capture the victory.

Now they face the top seeded University of Charleston Golden Eagles (17-1-2), who are coming off a 1-0 win over West Virginia Wesleyan.

Head coach Michael Benn mentioned the success of Charleston's program, stating that "Charleston is a great team, they have been to three straight Final Fours. For a large part of the season they have been the number one team in the country. It will be a great challenge."

West Chester fell to the Golden Eagles last season in the NCAA Tournament by a final score of 2-0. The Golden Rams will head back to Schoenbaum Field for a rematch this season in the NCAA tournament.

"Having been down there last year, we are aware of the facility and how good they are. I think we are excited to get another chance to play them. At this stage in the NCAA Tournament, every team you are going to play is going to be good. It's going to be a great challenge and we will be ready for it," said Benn.

There will be video as well as live stats for the NCAA Tournament matchup.

Notes
In Division II, West Chester now has a 1-2 record after defeating East Stroudsburg last week. They previous lost to Charleston in 2016 (0-2) and East Stroudsburg in 2002 (1-2).

This is the first time in program history that both men's and women's soccer are in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament at the same time.
