Terry Beattie announced the hiring of
Matt Goodall as the new full-time assistant for the Golden Rams men's soccer program. Goodall began his tenure as a full-time assistant alongside Benn on July 1 after serving as an assistant coach under Benn for the 2025 season.
"I am very pleased and excited to have Matt back on staff and in this full-time coaching position," began Benn. "Matt is a young coach who has brought so much to our program. He quickly established relationships with our student-athletes and brings great energy and expectations every day. In his full-time role, Matt will enhance the experience of our student-athletes athletically and academically. I'm looking forward to watching his professional development and growth in the coming seasons."
Goodall is a 2020 graduate of PSAC East foe Bloomsburg and starred on the Huskies backline throughout his career, playing in 61 games with 48 starts. In addition to his defense, Goodall scored three goals, including two in the 2017 season, with one of those two coming against West Chester in the September meeting between the two rivals. Following his graduation from Bloomsburg, Goodall, a Maryland native, served as the Associate head coach at Goldey Beacom before joining the West Chester staff in August 2025 following the departure of Rob Dallas for a head coaching opportunity.
"I want to thank Coach Benn for giving me the opportunity to continue working with this group of athletes," said Goodall. "I'm looking forward to learning more under Coach Benn's leadership and to helping this group of players reach our collective goals."
In their first fall together, Benn and Goodall guided the Golden Rams to another 10-win season, finishing the campaign at 10-6-3 overall and 5-3-2 in league play with a PSAC Semifinal appearance after defeating Lock Haven by a 1-0 final in the PSAC Quarterfinals in West Chester to return to the Conference semifinals for the third season in a row.
West Chester will open the 2026 season at home against Jefferson on August 27 at 3 p.m. before a five-match road trip, which will include visits to Holy Family, Wilmington, Mercy, Shippensburg, and Millersville. West Chester will play its PSAC East home opener on Saturday, September 19 vs Bloomsburg beginning at 2:30 p.m.
