No. 11 West Chester Grounds No. 18 IUP, 20-9

Box Score
WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Fr., Tatum Altman (N. Brunswick, N.J./N. Brunswick) scored a career-high five goals, and Olivia Martin (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) added four, as No. 11 West Chester defeated No. 18 Indiana (Pa.), 20-9, in a PSAC women's lacrosse showdown at Vonnie Gros Field Saturday.

West Chester (9-3, 6-2 PSAC) moved into a three-way tie for second place with the win while IUP (7-5, 6-2) is also in that same mix in the league standings, following East Stroudsburg's win over Mercyhurst on Saturday.

The Golden Rams shook their early-game woes, which has plaqued the team at times during the season, and scored the game's first seven goals to open up a big lead midway through the first half. Martin scored a natural hat trick with three straight tallies early in that run. The Golden Rams outshot the Crimson Hawks, 20-6, in the first 30 minutes of the game and took advantage of 11 IUP turnovers.

IUP made its only run of the game later in the first half when the Hawks scored three straight times to make it an 8-4 contest. However, West Chester answered with three of its own in the final five minutes to push the advantage back to seven, 11-4.

The Rams then scored two more times to open the second half and take an insurmountable, 13-4, lead. IUP closed to within seven on two more occasions, but could not get any closer.

Sr., Ashley Pyle (Springfield, Pa./Garnet Valley) scored three goals and added three assists in the win while classmate Dina Cifelli (Robbinsville, N.J./Notre Dame) scored a goal and assisted on six others for a seven-point afternoon. In the process, Cifelli notched her 200th career assist in the win, becoming just the second player in PSAC history to reach that milestone.

West Chester goalkeeper Nicole Martins (Bethlehem, Pa./Saucon Valley) made four saves while IUP's Angela Lontoc made eight.

West Chester travels to Shippensburg on Tuesday for another PSAC battle with the Raiders at 4 p.m.
