SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – West Chester University senior attacker
Dina Cifelli (Robbinsville, N.J./Notre Dame) broke the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) record for career assists in the Golden Rams' win over host Shippensburg Tuesday afternoon.
West Chester (10-3, 7-2 PSAC) received a career-high 12 points from Cifelli, including a career-best eight helpers, which now gives her 210 career assists. That ranks her fifth all-time in NCAA Division II history. Indiana (Pa.) Amy Weinberg set the conference record one year ago with 205 assists.
The Golden Rams scored a season-best 27 goals en route to a 27-8 victory over the Raiders (6-8, 2-8). The win moves West Chester into a tie for second place with IUP, which the Rams defeated last Saturday, giving them the upper edge in a tie-breaking scenario.
West Chester scored 13 goals in the first half and 14 goals in the second half.
Ali Donohue (Mullica Hill, N.J./Clearview Regional) scored a career-high and game-best seven goals in the win.
Ashley Pyle (Springfield, Pa./Garnet Valley) scored twice and added six helpers.
Olivia Martin (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) scored four goals and added two assists while
Tatum Altman (East Brunswick, N.J./East Brunswick) contributed three goals and two assists off the bench.
Nicole Martins (Bethlehem, Pa./Saucon Valley) made five saves in 46 minutes of action to improve to 10-3 on the year.
Carly Shaup (Glassboro, N.J./Clearview) played the last 14 minutes and did not make a save.
