BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – West Chester University men's outdoor track and field team has 18 student-athletes heading to the 2017 PSAC Outdoor Championships held inside Redman Stadium at Bloomsburg University on Thursday, May 4th.
Tickets to the 2017 PSAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championships includes all-session passes at $15 for adults and $7 dollars for students. Price per session/day are set at $10 for adults and $5 for students. Free admission for all PSAC students with University ID and PSAC pass holders. The event will run from Thursday, May 4th through Saturday, May 6th.
Junior sprinter
DeShaun Pickett is positioned fifth in the PSAC for the 100m and 200m. He qualified during the Golden Ram Invitational with times of 10.72 in the 100m and 21.67 seconds in the 200m back on March 25th. He has registered a trio of Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) DII honors this spring for his efforts.
West Chester's
Colin Vannicolo returns to the championships and will compete in the 110 high hurdles (ninth), pole vault (11), and long jump (4). Alongside Vannicolo will be
Ryan Heimbach in the 100H.
There are a total of five long jumpers competing for the Purple & Gold. Leading the way in first-place in the event is junior
Justus Norman. He earned the top spot with a leap of 22 feet, 11.25 inches at the Widener Invitational. During the Indoor Championships, Norman was named the Field MVP after earning the PSAC title in the long jump and second in the triple jump. The junior is slated sixth for the triple jump as well. His accomplishments this spring include a PSAC field athlete of the week to go along with a pair of ECAC awards.
Accompanying Norman in both the long jump and triple jump are
D'Andrew Gursay and
Joe Adighibe. Freshman
Brady Thayer will also be participating in the long jump as ninth to round out the five total members.
So.,
Josh Coakley ranks 12th for the 800m, while also being 14th for the 1500m. Coakley qualified for the 800m with a time of 1:55.91 at the Paul Kaiser Classic and achieved a mark for the 1500m at 4:00.92. Teammates
Jim McDaid and
Colin McClusick will also be competing in the 800m for the Golden Rams.
Sr.,
Andrew Dombrowiecki will participate in the 10,000m after crossing the finish at 32:52.71 in the Widener Invitational last month. Fellow senior
Shawn Young competes in the 400 high hurdles, registering for the championship at the Widener Invitational as well.
Fr.,
Ryan Johnson clocked in a time of 10.92 during the Paul Kaiser Classic to be 14th in the 100m. Meanwhile, senior
Ghassan Dix is currently 21st for the Golden Rams in the 400m.
The sophomore duo of
Bryce Sadler and
Nicholas Robinson are in the shot put and discus. Sadler is also competing in the hammer after a toss of 148 feet, one inch in the Millersville Metrics.
Fr.,
Joe Caponi came away 14th in the PSAC for the discus and will be third member of West Chester's squad in the event. After a throw of 175 feet, six inches at the Chester Quarry Classic in the javelin, sophomore
Christopher Mallee rounds out the 18 student-athletes who qualified in 2017.
Last season, West Chester finished in seventh with a score of 61.5 points at the PSAC Outdoor Championships.
