PHILADELPHIA  – Sr., offensive linemen
Tyler Drob (Cherry Hill, Pa./Cherry Hill East) and
Connor Walsh (Garnet Valle, Pa./Garnet Valley) were each named to the 2018 Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area squad by Philadelphia Sports Information Directors Association.
Â
Drob and Walsh are each making their first appearance on this academic squad. Drob is a graduate student, who earned his undergraduate degree in Mathematics last spring. Walsh is a senior, who will receive two bachelor's degrees in May in both Accounting and Finance.
Drob and Walsh started all 11 games next to one another on the Golden Rams' offensive line. Drob was the team's starting left guard while Walsh was the starting center on a group that helped West Chester finish 10-1 overall and win the school's first outright conference championship since 1971.
Â
Along the way, West Chester led the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) in rushing, averaging 204.5 rushing yards per game. The Golden Rams also led the PSAC in scoring offense and was third in total offense. West Chester racked up 2,249 rushing yards and 28 touchdowns on the season as well. Drob and Walsh were a big reason for the gaudy rushing numbers.
Â
Drob was first-team All-PSAC East selection while Walsh was a second-team pick this past fall.
