WCU Women's Tennis Grabs Two Victories at PSAC Individual Championships

BLOOMSBURG, Pa.
- Individuals from the West Chester University women's tennis team embarked on the Burt Reese Tennis Center on Saturday to take part in the 2018 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Individual Tennis Championships hosted by Bloomsburg University.

WEST CHESTER RUNDOWN
  • The Golden Rams sent three individuals to the Burt Reese Tennis Center on Saturday, with senior Rylee Power (NEWTOWN SQUARE, PA/MARPLE NEWTOWN) and freshmen Alyssa Skulsky (CHURCHVILLE, PA/COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH H. S.) and Danisa Erriad (JAKARTA, INDONESIA/ES INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL) making the trip to Bloomsburg.
  • The WCU duo of Power/Skulsky were locked in a battle against Cal U's Jo Weisen and Carolin Ganahl, but the tandem eventually fell 8-5 to get eliminated from contention.
  • The 5-8 seed, Power notched a convincing 6-1, 6-0 victory over Kutztown's Ashley Carter in singles action, before dropping a highly-contested 7-6 (4), 6-4 decision against Mercyhurst's Athina Tsagkarski in the next round.
  • Erriad won her first collegiate singles match in convincing fashion, downing Clarion's Vinisha Reddy 6-0, 6-0 prior to falling 6-4, 6-5 to No. 2 seed Kayla Frost from Mercyhurst.
  • Skulsky lost her singles opener to 3-4 seed Jo Weisen from Cal U 6-0, 6-0.

TOURNAMENT INFORMATION
  • The 2018 PSAC Individual Championship will run through the weekend with the champions of both the singles and doubles divisions being crowned on Monday morning.

  • West Chester hits the road on Friday, October 5, to square off against Mercyhurst at noon on the campus of Penn State Behrend.
