West Chester Men Start Strong at Golden Rams Classic

Day 1 Results

WEST CHESTER, Pa. - The West Chester University men's swimming team was back in action on Friday evening in the first day of competition in a dual meet against Arcadia University.

The Golden Rams competed in five events on day one of the Golden Rams Classic and placed ahead of the pack in all of them. Sophomore Logan Brockway (York, Pa./Dallastown) helped West Chester place first in both the 200-yard freestyle relay and the 400 medley relay. The 400 medley relay currently owns the fastest time in the PSAC. Brockway also finished second in the 200 Individual medley, behind teammate Leo Chaves (Brazil), who finished first with an NCAA 'B' time of 1 minute, 49.17 seconds, which is good for the top time in Division II at this point in the season.

Senior Dylan North (Airville, Pa./Red Lion) placed first the 500 free with a finish of 4:33.02. He led seven West Chester swimmers to the wall as the Golden Rams dominated that distance event. Both North and teammate Collin Pettit (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) posted NCAA 'B' cut times. Pettit's 4:34.27 was right behind North in second place and was a lifetime best. Tom Powell III (West Grove, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) was third in the 500 in a lifetime best showing of 4:35.37.

To round out the Golden Rams' strong finish, Tyler Hall (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) took first place in the 50 free with a time of 21.19 seconds, which is among the Top 5 in the PSAC right now.

West Chester is back in Graham Natatorium on Saturday for day two of the Golden Rams Classic. The morning session gets under way at 10 a.m. with the evening session beginning at 5 p.m.
