Danisa Erriad (JAKARTA, INDONESIA/ES INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL) notched her second straight singles victory of the spring season, as the West Chester University women's tennis team fell 6-1 to regionally-ranked Goldey-Beacom College 6-1 at the South Campus Courts in West Chester.
The Golden Rams drop to 3-4 overall following Wednesday's loss, while the visiting Lightning have now won two straight matches to improve to 10-2 on the year ahead of their contest against NCAA DI University of Delaware on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Goldey-Beacom got the doubles point on Wednesday after sweeping all three matches of the day, as the tandem od Lotte Lesscher y Post/Catrina Zheng defeated the West Chester duo of Rylee Power (NEWTOWN SQUARE, PA/MARPLE NEWTOWN)/Alyssa Skulsky (CHURCHVILLE, PA/ COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH) at first singles 6-3, before Erriad/Leandra Roelker (ALLENTOWN, PA./ SALISBURY) fell at No. 2 doubles by the same score. Shannon Nixon (WYNCOTE, PA./ CHELTENHAM)/Julia Mowrey (BETHLEHEM, PA./NOTRE DAME) closed out doubles action on Wednesday afternoon by falling 6-4 to Alma Garcia Valle/Kristin Radeke to seal the sweep for the Lightning heading into singles play.
- Erriad's 7-6, 5-3 win at No. 3 singles over Elin Anderson was the lone win for the Golden Rams on Wednesday, although Roelker and Nixon both pushed their matches into tiebreakers at fourth and sixth flight.
