West Chester Places Second At 2019 ECAC Division II Championships

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – So. Jessica Meakim (Downingtown, Pa.) tied for first place on the floor exercise in leading West Chester University's women's gymnastics squad to a second-place finish at the 36th ECAC DII Championships Saturday afternoon.
 
Bridgeport notched its 11th straight ECAC team title and 22nd overall with a score of 195.15 while West Chester was second for the fifth straight year with their 193.2, which ranks as the highest team score the Golden Rams have managed at the ECAC Championships. Southern Connecticut State was third with a 190.9.
 
Meakim shares her ECAC individual title on the floor exercise with three other gymnasts, who all scored a 9.85 during their routines. Meakim was also named a Co-Scholar Athlete of the Year in the ECAC at the conclusion of the championship meet.
 
Sarah Boyd (St. Petersburg, Fla.) was runner-up on the balance beam with a 9.8 en route to being named the ECAC DII Specialist of the Year. Myranda Marshall (Lancaster, Pa.) tied for second on the uneven parallel bars with a 9.85.
 
West Chester won the balance beam with a team composite score of 48.275.
