WEST CHESTER, Pa.- For the first time in program history, the West Chester University women's golf team captured the Dr. Edwin B. Cottrell Invitational with a two-day score of 668.
Juliarose Genuardi (Harleysville, Pa./North Penn) earned the Individual title for West Chester as she shot a 74 on the second day, which was 12 strokes lower than her opening round 86 to end with a two-day score of 160 (+13).
This victory makes West Chester the fourth different school to win the team title while Genuardi becomes the 11
th different individual to earn the title.
Meanwhile, Mercyhurst and Gannon finished in a tie for second after each registering two-day scores of 696.
Meghan O'Mara (Sayville, N.Y./Sayville) finished in second with a two-day score of 165 after signing for an 82 in the opening round and an 83 in the second round. First round leader
Dominique Marchese (Media, Pa./Merion Mercy Academy) was close behind as she finished in fifth with a two-day score of 169 after shooting an 88 in the second round of the Tournament.
Bridget Pyott (Wayne, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame de Namur) finished in a tie for 11
th with a two-round score of 175 after carding an 89 in the second round on Tuesday afternoon.
Angela Masseria (Staten Island, N.Y./Tottenville) also climbed the leaderboard in the second round as she finished in a tie for 20
th after signing for an 88 on day two, thus, allowing her to record a two-day score of 184.
Alexandra Lowder (Wrightsville, Pa./Eastern York) and
Emily Centofante (Valley Forge, Pa./Conestoga) competed unattached for West Chester finishing in a tie for 24th and a tie for 28
th with two-day scores of 186 and 192, respectively.
West Chester will be back on the course looking to run its winning streak to nine in a row at the ESU Invitational beginning on Saturday afternoon.
