HONOLULU, HI. – West Chester University's
Jarey Elder accepted an invitation to the 2020 Hula Bowl All-Star game, which will take place on Sunday, Jan. 26 at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu. The game will be televised live on CBS Sports Network.
The game is scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. start locally in Hawaii and will air live on CBS Sports Network at 10:30 p.m. in the Eastern time zone.
The Hula Bowl began in 1946 as a collegiate all-star game and a way for pro prospects to showcase their talents. The game has traditionally featured top prospects from the mainland United States, along with a number of Hawaiian, Australian and Japanese players.
This year's game will be coached by two former NFL head coaches in Rex Ryan (New York Jets, Buffalo Bills) and Mike Smith (Atlanta Falcons).
The week of events leading up to the Hula Bowl on Sunday will include official height and weight measurements in front of scouts, a trip to the Pearl Harbor Memorial, financial counseling sessions and a local hospital visit on top of practices, team meetings and the game.
Elder, PSAC East defensive athlete of the year and a Cliff Harris Award nominee for small college defensive player of the year, led West Chester with three interceptions, two fumble recoveries, eight pass breakups and 41 solo tackles in 2019. Elder was also the team's primary punt returner.
Elder was also named to the D2 CCA All-America second team and the Don Hansen FB Gazette All-Super Region 1 team. He was a preseason All-America selection by two organizations as well this past August.
