PSAC CHAMPIONSHIPS - Day 2 Results
YORK, Pa. - The West Chester University men's swimming team swam a tight race in the 400 yard medley relay on Thursday evening on Day 2 of the PSAC Championships. The Golden Rams came in second place but only behind the leaders by 0.11 seconds. The team consisted of
Sean Bell (Colombia, S.C./Blythewood), Olivier Nguyen (West Chester, Pa./Bishop Shanahan), Leo Chaves (Brazil), and
Joao Barreto (Niteroi, Brazil) who finished in 3 minutes and 18.75 seconds.
West Chester remains in first place after day two of competition with 415 points. Bloomsburg is in second with 369 followed by Gannon with 303 points.
West Chester had three swimmers finish in the Top Five of the 100 Fly. Chaves in second (47.31 seconds), Barreto in fourth (49.08) and
Logan Brockway (York, Pa./Dallastown) in fifth (49.46).
Dylan North (Airville, Pa./Red Lion) won the 400 individual medley for the Golden Rams with a finish time of 4:00.21.
Jarod Anderson (Newville, Pa./Big Spring) came in second with a time of 4:03.15 to help West Chester claim the top two spots.
The Golden Rams took third in the 200 free relay with a finish time of 1:22.23. The team consisted of Barreto, Brockway,
Tyler Hall (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn), and Chaves.
To round out the evening,
Tom Powell (West Grove, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) took third in the 200 free with a time of 1:41.56 for West Chester.
The third day of the swimming championships gets underway on Friday at 10 a.m. with prelims, followed by the finals at 6 p.m.
