Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

West Chester Downs Lock Haven 98-83 On Senior Day

WEST CHESTER, Pa. - West Chester University men's basketball freshman guard Robbie Heath (Whittlesea, Australia / Abington) and senior guard Malik Jackson (Lansdowne, Pa. / Penn Wood) combined for 56 points in the team's 98-83 win over Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East Division opponent Lock Haven University at Hollinger Field House on Saturday.

It was Senior Day, and the Golden Rams (18-8 overall, 12-8 PSAC) honored Jackson and center Tim Toro (Scranton, Pa. / Abington Heights) for their contributions to the team prior to the win.

The win also helped West Chester clinch a spot in the PSAC Tournament that's set to take place from March 2-8. The Golden Rams are currently in third place in the division, and the top six teams from each of the two PSAC divisions make the tournament.

WCU wasted no time taking advantage of the Bald Eagles (9-11, 12-12), jumping out to a 36-10 lead over the first 13:57 of gameplay when junior guard Colin Daly (Havertown, Pa. / Archbishop Carroll) drained a three-pointer.

West Chester's lead ballooned to 35 when freshman guard Kyle McGee (Jersey City, N.J. / St. Mary's of the Assumption) knocked down two free throws to make it 55-20 with 2:03 remaining in the first half.

The Golden Rams moderately took their foot off the gas in the second half and allowed Lock Haven to crawl back into the game. However, the score did not get closer than the 15-point spread at the final buzzer.

Heath finished with 31 points, nine rebounds, five assists and three steals. He made 10-of-11 free throws and only turned the ball over once in 32 minutes on the court. Heath leads the Golden Rams in at 23.8 points per game, 7.2 rebounds per game, 2.4 assists per game and 1.5 steals per game during his freshman season.

Jackson had 25 points on 9-of-15 field goals that include 6-of-11 shooting from beyond the arc in 30 minutes. Jackson is up to 17.5 points per game this season.

West Chester has two games remaining on its regular season schedule. Its next game is its final regular season home game. The Golden Rams face fourth-place Millersville University at 7:30 p.m. in Hollinger Field House.
