Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Heath Sets West Chester Single-Season Scoring Record In Loss At ESU

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. - West Chester University men's basketball lost its final regular season game 103-87 on Saturday at East Stroudsburg University. Despite the loss, the Golden Rams had already clinched third place in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East Division, and they'll host Lock Haven University in the first round of the playoffs on Monday at 7 p.m. at Hollinger Field House.

Freshman guard Robbie Heath (Whittlesea, Australia / Abington) scored 39 points on Saturday, bringing his season total to 659, which is a West Chester men's basketball single-season record. The previous record was 640 set by Ramzee Stanton in 2003-04. Heath's total also breaks the PSAC freshman record of 642 set by Lock Haven's Amir Hinton in 2016-17. Heath leads the PSAC and ranks eighth in Division II men's basketball at 24.4 points per game.

West Chester's only lead on Saturday was 2-0 as senior guard Malik Jackson (Lansdowne, Pa. / Penn Wood) made a jump shot 18 seconds into the game. The Golden Rams played it close for the majority of the first half as they were down just 29-26 with 9:15 remaining until it was over. However, the Warriors closed out the half on a 33-11 run.

WCU battled back and came within eight points of ESU when Heath hit a jumper with 4:17 left in regulation. But that was as close as the Golden Rams would come.

Heath added 10 rebounds and six assists in the loss. It was his fourth double-double of the season. He leads the team and is ninth in the PSAC at 7.5 rebounds on average this year.

Jackson had 19 points on Saturday, brining his career total to 1,786. He'll enter the postseason ranked fourth in team history in points and second in three-pointers with 293.

Tickets for Monday's PSAC Tournament game against Lock Haven University set for 7 p.m. at Hollinger Field House are 10 dollars for adults and five dollars for students. The Golden Rams have a 19-9 overall record this season and a 13-9 record in PSAC play.
