Michael Gobora Named Second Team CoSIDA Academic All-America®

AUSTIN, Texas – West Chester University sophomore defensive end, Michael Gobora (Newtown, Pa./Pennsbury), was named a College Sports Information Director's Association (CoSIDA) second team Academic All-America® it was announced by that organization Friday afternoon.

Gobora enjoyed a breakout season, registering 43 tackles on the year to include 18.5 for a loss and 10 sacks. His TFL numbers ranked second in the PSAC and sacks ranked third. He ranked as high as second nationally in sacks and third nationally in tackles for a loss at one point during the fall season. In the classroom, Gobora carries a perfect 4.00 grade-point average in Economics & Finance within the College of Business and Public Management.

Gobora becomes the third football player from West Chester to receive CoSIDA Academic All-America ® honors and the first since 1986. He led West Chester to a 6-5 record on the season, including 4-3 in conference play. Gobora was also named a Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area selection last week.

Slippery Rock University senior wide receiver Henry Litwin headlined the 2021 Academic All-America® Division II football team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). A native of Linesville, Pa., Litwin is the recipient of the Academic All-America® of the Year award for NCAA Division II football.

The Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2021-22 Division II Academic All-America® teams program.
