GREENSBORO, NC - West Chester University landed three players on the 2021 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-Atlantic Region squad it was announced by that organization Wednesday afternoon. Senior
Justin Horn (Willow Grove, Pa./Upper Dublin) was a first team pick at designated hitter while juniors
Luke Cantwell (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown) and
Mike Ferrara (Jamison, Pa./Archbishop Wood) were each second team selections.
Ferrara enjoyed a spectacular first season in the Purple & Gold. The transfer from UNC-Greensboro won the starting job at first base out of the gate and hit .403 for the Golden Rams, leading the team in home runs (9), RBI (36) and slugging percentage (.925) with a 1.419 OPS to boot.
Horn hit .394 to place second on the team. He was also second in runs scored (32) and RBI (35). He hit six doubles, one triple and five home runs.
Cantwell was a big bat in the middle of the order all spring for first-year head coach
Mike LaRosa. He finished with a .379 batting average, including 11 doubles, one triple and six home runs. He posted a .705 slugging percentage and 33 RBI.
The 2021 ABCA/Rawlings all-region teams and regional players of the year are voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association and the process is led by the ABCA All-America Committees. The ABCA All-America team was first recognized in 1949 and now includes nine divisions: NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA Divisions I, II and III, Pacific Association Division, and high school. ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams were first recognized in 2007.
