STATEN ISLAND, NY –
Will Rivers (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) hit an NCAA Provisional distance in the triple jump while
Andrew Puz (Exton, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) placed third in the pole vault to lead West Chester's men's track & field squad at the Gotham Cup inside the Ocean Breeze Complex Friday afternoon.
Rivers finished fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 48 feet, 2 ¾", which ranks second best in West Chester history and topped his personal best set in December at the same facility. He also finished 11th in the long jump with a leap of 21-6 ¾ that narrowly missed a PSAC qualifier.
Tyrese Reid (Pennsburg, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) was 13th as well.
Puz finished third in the pole vault, clearing 13-11 1/4, to hit a PSAC qualifying height.
Geraldo Medina (Willow Street, Pa./J.P. McCaskey) placed ninth in the weight throw, but did hit a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying distance with a throw of 50-6. He also finished 17th in the shot put.
Jack Wasserman (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) was ninth in the 400m in a time of 50.49 seconds which also qualified him for the PSAC Championships next month.
