Women's Golf Readies for PSAC Championships

PSAC CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL
KUTZTOWN, Pa.-
The West Chester women's golf team is concluding its preparations for the 2023 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Women's Golf Championships, which are set to begin on Friday, April 28 and continue through Sunday the 30th at Berkleigh Golf Club in Kutztown, Pa.

The 54-hole Championship returns to Berkleigh Golf Club for the second year in a row after serving as the host for the first time a season ago.

At the 2022 Championships, West Chester finished fifth with a 54-hole score of 1,049 after shooting a low-round of 342 on Sunday afternoon to conclude the Championships. Madilyn Siuta (Coopersburg, Pa./Quakertown) led West Chester individually, finishing in fourth place, after shooting an 80 on Sunday as one of two Golden Rams to finish inside the top-10.  Last season, West Chester was one of just two team's in the field to notch an eagle during the Championships at Berkleigh and Siuta was among the best in the field on the Par 4's and Par 5's, ranking second among all players in scoring average in both at 4.53 (+16) on the Par 4's, while registering a 4.92 (-1) average on Par 5's.

While the Spring season has been quicker then the Golden Rams have been accustomed to in recent years due to weather early in March, West Chester enters the Championships in good form, finishing in the top five in all of its Tournament's this spring, including three consecutive top two finishes leading up to the Championships.

Most recently, West Chester traveled to East Stroudsburg on Saturday afternoon and claimed the team title with a team score of 319, while the duo of Siuta and Kirsten Vanderhorst (Gambrills, Md./Bishop McNamara) finished in a tie for third with 79's.

This Tournament victory comes on the heels of a pair of second-place finishes at the Millersville and Kutztown Invitational's along with a fourth-place finish at the Alvernia Invitational and a fifth-place showing at the Dr. Edwin B. Cottrell Invitational at Penn Oaks early in April to begin the Spring season.

Vanderhost has been among the most consistent Golden Rams throughout the Spring season, finishing in the top-15 in each of the last four events, while placing in the top-10 in each of the last three, including a tie for third on Saturday and a sixth-place finish at the Kutztown Invitational at Moselem Springs earlier this season as well.

Fellow newcomer Molly Gregor (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Gwynedd Mercy Academy) has also enjoyed a stellar spring, finishing among the leaders in each of her last three events entering the Championships, including a pair of third-place finishes (82) at the Millersville and Kutztown Invitational's before finishing in a tie for fifth at the ESU Invitational on Saturday.

Margaux Solis (Houston, Tx./Klein), Josephine Genuardi (Harleysville, Pa./William Penn) and Siuta have also been fixtures in the West Chester lineup and near the top of the leaderboard throughout the Spring season. Genuardi led West Chester the Cottrell Invitational, finishing in a tie for 14th with a two-day score of 178 before Solis led the Golden Rams at the Alvernia Invitational with a fourth-place finish, signing for an 83.

The opening round of the Championships is scheduled to begin on Friday morning at 11 a.m. and live results along with final scoring at the end of each day, at the end of the Tournament is expected to be available via this LINK.
