LOCK HAVEN, PA – West Chester University's quarterback,
Cooper Jordan (Downingtown, Pa./Bishop Shanahan), was named the co-offensive Athlete of the Week in the Eastern Division of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Monday afternoon.
It is the second time that Jordan has copped co-offensive AOW honors in the PSAC East. He also took home that award two weeks ago when West Chester beat Shippensburg.
Jordan rushed for a career-high 218 yards and two touchdowns while also throwing for 131 yards and three more scores to lead West Chester to a 41-23 victory over visiting Millersville on Homecoming Saturday afternoon. Jordan threw a 36-yard TD pass and a 47-yard TD pass in the third quarter and then added a 47-yard scamper and a 60-yard scamper in the fourth to account for all 28 second-half points and break open a tight 13-3 ballgame.
In all, Jordan was responsible for five touchdowns in the game and amassed 349 yards of total offense. He became the first QB in West Chester history to rush for more than 200 yards in a game, and his 218 rushing yards in a game is the most by a quarterback in Division II this fall. It is also the single-game high in the PSAC for any rusher.
Jordan's rushing total against Millersville on Saturday is tied for the 17th-best single game effort in West Chester history. He is 178 rushing yards away from becoming the first QB in school history to rush for 1,000 yards in a single season. He would also become the first person at WCU to eclipse 1,000 yards in a single season since Jarel Elder in 2017.
The local product averages 102 rushing yards per game. He ranks second in the PSAC in rushing yards, touchdown rushes and averages yards per game. His 7.0 average yards per rush leads the conference.
West Chester hosts Lock Haven next Saturday at 12 p.m. at John A. Farrell Stadium on Senior Day. The senior members of the football team, the cheerleading squad and the INCOMPARABLE Golden Rams Marching Band will be honored in a brief ceremony before the game. At halftime, the 2024 Killinger Foundation Football Hall of Fame class will be introduced to the crowd.
