THURSDAY RESULTS
GAMBIER, OHIO –
Paul Demesy picked up a win while
Danny Dunigan and
Kolos Nagy each posted a runner-up performance on the first day of competition at the Total Performance Invitational hosted by Kenyon College Thursday.
West Chester sits in second place right behind host Kenyon with 408 points. Kenyon has 475.5 points. Carnegie Mellon is right on the Golden Rams' tail with 406.5 points. Case Western Reserve University, Hope College, SUNY Geneseo, Lindsay Wilson College and John Carroll University round out the team leaderboard.
Paul Demesy (Saint Ulrich, France) and
Danny Dunigan (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) highlighted the first day of competition by placing first and second, respectively, in the 500-yard freestyle in the evening session. Demesy posted an NCAA 'B' Cut time of 4 minutes, 26.65 seconds to edge his teammate Dunigan, who touched the wall in 4:26.98 which was also a 'B' time for the NCAAs.
Kolos Nagy (Szazhalombatta, Hungary) was runner-up in the 200 Individual Medley while
Ben Desclous (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) placed fourth as well to earn quality points for the Golden Rams. Nagy's time of 1:46.75 and Desclous' 1:48.24 were each NCAA 'B' times as well.
Christian Henry (York, Pa./Central York) placed eighth.
The Golden Rams' "A" squad in the 200 free relay led off the evening finals session with a runner up performance in a time of 1 minute, 21.30 seconds earning 32 points for the purple & gold. That team was made up of
Devin Metzger (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus),
Joel Dunnigan (York, Pa./Dallastown),
Dalton Fink (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) and
Nolan Benner (Green Lane, Pa./Boyertown). The "B" squad placed 13th overall and picked up 18 more points for the Golden Rams. Henry,
Chadd Corson (Wernersville, Pa./Wilson),
Brey Wright (Georgetown, Del./Sussex Central) and Desclous were on that team.
Joel Dunnigan placed sixth in the 50 free while Benner placed 10th.
West Chester finished the first night of competition with a fourth, eighth and 13th place showing in the 400 medley relay. The 'A' team of Fink, Benner, Wright and Metzger posted a time of 3:19.35. The 'B' team of Desclous,
Kai Hang (Pennsburg, Pa./Upper Perkiomen), Dunnigan and
Aidan Falkish (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) finished in 3:20.98. The 'C' team consisted of Nagy, Henry, Corson and
Jacob Texter (West Grove, Pa./Avon Grove).
West Chester continues at the Total Performance Invitational on Friday morning with prelims in 100 butterfly, 400 IM, 200 free, 100 breaststroke and the 100 back stroke.
