SATURDAY RESULTS
GAMBIER, OHIO –
Paul Demesy (Saint Ulrich, France) won his second distance event of the invitational Saturday evening leading West Chester to a third-place finish on the final day of competition at the Total Performance Invitational hosted by Kenyon College.
West Chester amassed 1,484 points trailing only host Kenyon College (1,690.5) and Carnegie Mellon (1,517.5). Case Western Reserve was fourth with 1,010.5 points and Hope College was fifth. SUNY-Geneseo placed sixth, John Carroll and Lindsay Wilson College were seventh and eighth, respectively.
Demesy, who won the 500-yard freestyle on Thursday night, took first place in the 1650 free hitting an NCAA 'B' Cut time of 15 minutes, 20.36 seconds. Teammate
Danny Dunigan (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) placed fourth in 15:49.02, while posting a 'B' time of his own, and
Jacob Texter (West Grove, Pa./Avon Grove) was 10th in a time of 16:08.94.
Ben Desclous (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) was runner-up in the 200 butterfly with a 'B' time of 1:49.31.
Brey Wright (Georgetown, Del./Sussex Central) placed 16th.
Kolos Nagy (Szazhalombatta, Hungary) followed up a pair of second-place efforts in the 200 and 400 individual medley each of the past two days with a fourth-place showing in the 200 backstroke. His time of 1:47.19 was a 'B' time as well.
Dalton Fink (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) was right behind him in fifth in a time of 1:50.20.
West Chester landed three swimmers in the top eight of the 100 free led by
Nolan Benner (Green Lane, Pa./Boyertown) in fifth place touching the ball in 45.18, which was a 'B' cut time.
Joel Dunnigan (York, Pa./Dallastown) placed sixth in 45.26 while
Devin Metzger was eighth in 45.5.
Ryan Lee (Camp Hill, Pa./Camp Hill) placed third in the 200 breaststroke in a time of 2:01.57.
Kai Hang (Pennsburg, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) was ninth in 2:03.89 and
Christian Henry (York, Pa./Central York) placed 13th.
West Chester's 400 free relay 'A' team was runner-up in the final event of the day for the purple & gold. Desclous, Dunnigan, Metzger and Benner made up that foursome that closed out the meet with a new school record of 2:58.18.
The Golden Rams hit the pool once more before the semester break when they welcome Delaware to Graham Natatorium on Dec. 6.
