Chester County Sports Hall of Fame
WEST CHESTER, Pa.- The Chester County Sports Hall of Fame has selected its latest group of esteemed athletes with ties to Chester County for its 2024 class. Among the class is former West Chester University women's basketball standout and current assistant coach
Allison Hostetter '12. Hostetter will enter the Hall of Fame on Saturday, November 9, alongside Kelvin Butcher, Julie Hull Ulicker, Aaron Harris, Doug Hendricks, Michael Lorback, Ken Noel, Anne Sage, Maureen Scott (Dupcak), and Samantha Staudt.
"I am truly blessed and honored to join the long list of incredible athletes in the Chester County Sports Hall of Fame," opened Hostetter. "I am grateful to my sponsor, Dennis White, for the nomination and to so many others who have been part of my athletic journey. Thank you to my parents to being the pillar to my success and for the values they have instilled, such as hard work and discipline into my life. Thank you also to all the friends and family who supported me day in and day out, whether in the gym or on the field. Growing up in the wonderful small town of Oxford, my focus was playing sports and having fun. What I didn't realize at the time was that all my coaches and teammates were building the competitive foundation, that eventually led to this honor. I am forever thankful that my college coach, Deirdre Kane, believed in me enough to offer me a place on her team at West Chester University. Little did I know that after my playing days were over, I would still be at WCU, now as a coach. I look forward to continued success working alongside Coach Wooden for many more seasons. I am certainly proud of all the wins and successes, but when I think about my time at West Chester, it's the friendships I have forged along the way that mean the most," finished Hostetter.
Hostetter, or Hoss as she is best known in the WCU basketball program, completed an excellent playing career for West Chester in 2012 under the tutelage of legendary head coach Deirdre Kane. During her time as a Golden Ram, Hoss appeared in 113 games and scored nearly 1,200 career points, finishing just one point shy of the marker, while also grabbing 729 rebounds, dishing out 360 assists, and creating 235 steals. When Hostetter scored her 1,000
th career point, she was the 16
th player in school history to reach this milestone. Hoss still ranks seventh in rebounding and assists.
Hostetter's contributions played a significant role in West Chester's 2012 NCAA Tournament berth. She was also a two-time All-League selection, earning first-team honors as a senior and second-team recognition at the end of her junior season.
As an assistant coach, Hostetter is entering her ninth season alongside head coach
Kiera Wooden. In her tenure, Hostetter has helped West Chester to seven PSAC Tournament and four NCAA Tournament appearances, including a run to the Regional Championship game in March 2023. With a significant role in the Golden Ram's offense and guard development, Hostetter played a significant role in the development of
Leah Johnson, who completed a historic career in 2024 with new program records for career points, assists, and triple-doubles, including back-to-back triple-doubles during the historic 2023-24 campaign.
Hostetter will not be present for her induction into the Hall of Fame as she will be helping to coach the Golden Rams in their season opener in West Virginia against West Virginia State, which begins at 7:30 p.m.
