STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.- The West Chester University women's track and field team was back in action on Friday night to kick off its 2024-25 indoor season at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex for the Fast Track Season Opener.
Lily Palacio Lewis (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) finished sixth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.87 seconds after finishing fourth in the prelims in 7.86 seconds. This effort also served as a PSAC Qualifying time for the senior sprinter. Palacio-Lewis also finished fourth in the 200 with a time of 26.00 seconds.]
Cate Hildebrand (Chalfont, Pa./C.B. South) also finished sixth in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.50 seconds after qualifying with a time of 9.46 seconds earlier in the day.
Ellie Goldberg (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) placed 17
th in the mile with a time of 5:28.30, while
Rebecca Kramer (Washington Boro, Pa./Penn Manor) took 14
th in the 800 in 2:35.00.
Kristina Tapia (Ridley Park, Pa./Ridley) finished fifth in the 5K with a time of 18:12 as the first of three Golden Rams in the top eight as
Jessalyn Welsh (Enola, Pa./East Pennsboro) and
Anna Quackenbush (Oakton, Va./Oakton) finished seventh and eighth in times of 19:59.30 and 20:18.60, respectively. Tapia's time also served as an early PSAC Qualifying time.
Genevieve McDonald (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) placed 11
th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:03.00.
The Golden Rams took fourth in the 4x800 relay with a time of 10:38.90 before finishing seventh in the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:11.80.
Jade Salmon (Rochester, N.Y./Gates Chili) captured the high jump competition with a personal best and PSAC Qualifying mark of 5 feet 3 inches (1.60 meters), while
Annika Hummel (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) placed second in the pole vault with a PSAC Qualifying height of 11-9 ¾ (3.60m).
Ryan Layton (West Chester, Pa./Rustin) finished 10
th in the long jump with a mark of 16-8 ½ (5.09m), and
Katie Pieslak (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) was fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 36-2 ¼ (11.03m), which also served as a PSAC Qualifier.
Emma Deyarmin (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) led West Chester in both the shot put and weight throw, finishing seventh and sixth with marks of 34-4 ½ (10.48m) and 41-3 (12.57m), respectively. Deyarmin's effort in the weight throw also sets a new personal best for the sophomore by over three feet.
