West Chester Men Jump Out to Early Lead at PSACs

MEET RESULTS

CARLISLE, PA – West Chester University's men's swim team opened up strong on Wednesday evening the 65th Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Swimming Championships at the Keystone Aquatics Center in Carlisle. West Chester amassed 235.5 points after the first day of competition as it looks to defend its team title.
 
The Golden Rams opened the evening session with four of the top five finishers in the 1000-yard freestyle timed final. Paul Demesy (Saint Ulrich, France) successfully defended his title in 9 minutes, 13.9 seconds. Freshman Danny Dunigan (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) was runner up in 9:17.97 while junior Max Bachman (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) placed fourth. Freshman Jacob Texter (West Grove, Pa./Avon Grove) was fifth in 9:31.18.
 
The Golden Rams kept the pressure on the rest of the conference with a one-two finish in the 200 Individual Medley coupled with a seventh-place showing. Kolos Nagy (Szazhalombatta, Hungary) won the event touching the wall in 1:48.10. Teammate Ben Desclous (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) wasn't far behind in 1:48.63. Freshman Aidan Falkish (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) was seventh.
 
Seniors Devin Metzger (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) and Nolan Benner (Greene Lane, Pa./Boyertown) turned the one-two trick in the 50 free sprint. Classmate Joel Dunnigan (York, Pa./Dallastown) was sixth.
 
The Golden Rams' 800 free relay squad closed out the first night of competition with a PSAC championship. The foursome of Nagy, Desclous, Dunigan and Metzger turned in a time of 6:37.26.
 
West Chester returns to action Thursday morning with prelims at 10 a.m. in the 100 butterfly, 400 IM and the 200 free. Finals in those events start at 6 p.m. where the 200 free relay and 400 medley relay with bookend the aforementioned events above.
